Bridgestone adds FRT to SUV Range
Bridgestone has released its first 4×4 tyre that incorporates run-flat technology. Called the Dueler H/P Sport RFT, this tyre designed for upmarket SUVs offers added safety while maintaining comparable performance and comfort to the conventional variant of the tyre, released in March 2006.
The sidewall rubber has been reinforced to allow safe driving after a loss of pressure has occurred. Bridgestone has already successfully implemented this technology on car tyres such as the Turanza ER300 RFT and Potenza RE050 RFT.
According to Andy Lane, the Bridgestone UK marketing manager, the new tyre is designed to give car-like performance. “We launched the Dueler H/P Sport to give drivers of luxury 4×4 vehicles a tyre that offers the same characteristics as the rubber on high-performance coupés and saloons – excellent all-weather handling, sharp steering precision and maximum refinement and comfort,” he said, adding that he believes the tyre to be “arguably our most technology-advanced run flat tyre to date.”
Initially the Dueler H/P Sport RFT will be fitted as an OE option in sizes between 255/50 and 285/45 for 19-inch rims. The tyre will begin to be seen on UK roads in the spring.
