ADF Urges Automotive Industry to Take Kitemark
The Automotive Distribution Federation (ADF) has urged the entire automotive aftermarket industry to support the Kitemark for Garage Services. In a stark message to the ADF’s membership of leading aftermarket suppliers and distributors at the organisation’s Annual Dinner, President Alan Seal warned against the possible threat of government legislation facing garages, favouring the BSI‘s Kitemark for Garage Services as the only route for effective self-regulation.
“If the ‘super-complaint’ is enforced then the Government would be charged with introducing rules and regulations which, in order to ensure the public’s best interests, would hamstring garages and, quite possibly would encourage many to go out of business,” Seal warned. “It is in this Industry’s own best interest to encourage self-regulation and the ADF’s view is that the independent garage should be encouraged to apply for BSI’s Kitemark.”
Seal also praised the 600 strong audience of key aftermarket players for their support in the ADF’s production of its Kitemark flyer, which has allowed ADF members to highlight the scheme and its benefits to garage customers in greater detail.
Seal said: “I’m pleased to learn that, not only have many ADF members – both individual businesses and those in buying groups – been energetically promoting this to their customers, but also that BSI have reported an upturn in the level of enquiries and applications to join the Kitemark scheme. It shows that when we are united as an industry we can achieve our aims.”
