Wireless and Paperless Fleet Data Recording from Pneu-Logic
Derbyshire-based Pneu-Logic has introduced a new wireless and paperless fleet data recording system. The company has gone into partnership with Goodyear Dunlop to market and promote the system. Pneu-Inspector is a hand held, easy-to-use, tyre tread depth combined pressure gauge which collects accurate tyre data and uses Bluetooth technology to communicate with a hand-held mobile computer. The result is real-time information, allowing fleet managers to view data about their tyres within seconds of them being inspected.
And apparently that was enough to convince Goodyear to team up with Pneu-Logic. Ian Sedge, Goodyear’s Field Operations Manager, said: “Pneu-Inspector combines speed, accuracy and ever greater reporting efficiency for our fleet customers – it’s just another way that Goodyear Dunlop can demonstrate both the completeness of its package and its real competitive advantage.’’
Until now, inspectors would use a digital pressure gauge, a tread depth gauge and digital calliper to compile tyre data that would be recorded on paper forms. But every aspect of Pneu-Inspector is electronic, so inspection time is halved. Error-free data is immediately available via Bluetooth technology on the hand-held PDA and can be sent direct to a fleet manager’s computer, printer or other management system.
Laren Yeomans, Pneu-Logic’s Managing Director, explained more: “Dunlop Goodyear have quickly become the industry leaders in tyre data collection for fleet inspections. This shows the commitment Goodyear Dunlop is making to its Fleet customers to deliver a “best in class” service.
“The probe’s patented design is the culmination of many years of design and development by our team at Pneu Logic, and the probe has now set the standards for electronic data collection within the tyre industry. Further product enhancements are planned throughout 2007, which will add a UHF handheld tag reader to the existing RFID system and Fast Check, a Pneu logic solution that will decrease your vehicle inspection and reporting times by up to 75 per cent.”
