Taking Speciality Tyres to the Maxxis
As Maxxis’ profile in the PCR market develops, the company is continuing to develop solutions for a series of specialist applications, including high-speed trailers, ATV, turf machinery and small implements.
When it comes to ATVs, Maxxis claims to set the standard for tough, durable tyres that offer superior traction on all terrains. Firmly established as the choice of champions, Maxxis ATV tyres combine excellent puncture resistance qualities with tread that is designed for maximum grip and performance, meeting the needs of both recreational riders and competitive racers alike.
Maxxis describes itself as the number one tyre manufacturer operating in the ATV sector and is approved as an OE supplier by a number of leading manufacturers including Honda, Yamaha and Polaris, and many new manufacturers are now appearing.
In the UK market, six major tread patterns include iRAZR M943/M944 Radial – the UK’s first ATV radial with an aggressive centreline. This was developed especially for the challenging conditions that embody motocross racing.
With a 6-ply rating and aggressive tread pattern for enhanced cornering, the RAZR2 M933/M934 is purpose-designed for Enduro racing. Suitable for all types of cross-country terrain, this pattern’s increased depth and angled tread is designed to produce improved steering and braking, while the deep lug affords has been added for better skid and traction control.
In the Wildcat C828 Maxxis offers the UK’s biggest range of multi-purpose ATV tyres. Featuring a self-cleaning pattern, this top performer is designed for use on- and off-road and is E-marked and street legal. The M983 features a unique Bar and Hook tread pattern that delivers maximum traction in a variety of conditions, especially mud and lose terrain. Its 6-ply rating and extra stiff sidewall are said to make it one of the most puncture-resistant ATV tyres on the market today.
The E-marked Streetmaxx C9272/3 hugs the road and is ideal for street legal ATVs with a top speed of 140kph, while the M917/918 Bighorn is the newest general-purpose heavyweight ATV tyre in the Maxxis range and has been developed from experience gained in the US market.
ATV Wheels
Maxxis also produces ATV wheels, which are designed to be robust enough to handle rugged terrain, yet are lightweight and have showroom good looks. Suitable for all popular ATVs and weighing just 10lbs, the Maxxis 4×4 wheel is cast aluminium with a polished clear coat finish that protects the wheel and ensures it keeps its shine. A reinforced edge prevents flat spots, while the wheel also benefits from lug nuts, a valve stem and centre cap.
New trailer tyre due in January 2007
In January 2007 Maxxis will add another tyre to its HST range, once again leading the competition and opening up further opportunities for OE business.
Maxxis high-speed trailer (HST) tyres are designed to carry more weight and make full use of Virtual Intelligent Prototyping technology to deliver optimum power and strength where it is needed. All Maxxis HST tyres benefit from decreased rolling resistance, which delivers improved fuel economy and tread life, as well as low noise levels and a smooth ride.
The Trailermaxx range leads Maxxis’s HST offering with many OE options. There are seven patterns developed for the specific use of the trailer in a large number of sizes and speed ratings, from the newest in the range 185/60-R12C to ‘old faithful’ sizes like 5.00-10 8pr.
Lawns ahead of the competition
When it comes to turf tyres Maxxis is aiming to be lawns ahead of the competition thanks to specialist products that range from the unique Turfmaxx, to municipal high grip, hard wearing council contract tyres.
The Turfmaxx C165/C165S features dual Kevlar belts to provide superior puncture resistance. A new improved tread compound has been developed with large-scale contractors and councils in mind, offering up to 15 per cent improved life, and is to be launched next year.
The Professional Municipal C165/S serves all applications where Kevlar is not a requirement, and also fits compact tractors, while the C769 Green Saver, ribbed C737 and smooth C190/M190 have been developed for golf course fairways and greens respectively.
Small implement tyres
Maxxis completes its speciality tyre line up with a small implement range. The C154, C156, C168, C178, C179, C202 and C248 tubed tyres feature a rugged tread design with outstanding water drainage, while the smooth pattern tubed and tubeless C190 and M190 meet the needs of any 4-9 inch rim application. The Maxxis M7515 is designed for use on banking but is also eminently suitable for scissor lifts.
