Pirelli-shod Iveco Triumphs in Pharaoh’s Rally
Exactly a year after their victory in the Pharaoh’s Rally with a Team Overlock Mercedes-Benz Unimog U500, Pirelli’s PS22 standard truck tyres have repeated their performance with another win in the Egyptian marathon.
Fitted to an Iveco Eurotrakker driven by specialist Giacomo Vismara, the normal production Pirelli PS22s, are mounted on Italian vehicles in size 14.00 R20. They have to run over surfaces packed with danger, where the surface alternates between stones, expanses of sand and hard unmade tracks. Those hazardous and unpredictable conditions confirmed the qualities of the Pirelli PS22, a product that has also earned the trust of the German Army, which has requested the tyre for their vehicles. Last summer, Pirelli PS22s also won the much faster Baja Aragon in Spain.
This performance enabled the Team Motorsport Italia Eurotrakker to finish the 2006 Rally of the Pharaohs in 11th place overall. The expert Italian driver competed in the Egyptian event as a “dress rehearsal” before taking part in the famous “Dakar “ raid in 2007.
