National Launch New Brake Training Programme
Leading fast-fit chain, National Tyres and Autocare have introduced a new Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) accredited brake training programme for its’ nationwide network of over 200 branches.
National have added to their existing very successful City & Guilds brake training with a new Technical Awareness & Diagnostic Course produced in conjunction with Entyrety and Acorn Training.
“It’s a significant step forward in our brake programme and is just one of a number of initiatives to improve the brake service to our customers,” commented Tony Neil, Managing Director, Retail. “We are investing heavily in this area of the business and staff training is key to the brake programme.”
Launched in April, the two day course focuses on diagnosing brake problems on modern braking systems but it doesn’t end after the two days. The technicians return to their branch with a brakes workbook containing a number of tasks involving, fault diagnosis, parts fitment, brake fluid testing and pressure bleeding, which are carried out during the following month.
The completed workbooks are returned for evaluation and the successful candidates are then awarded their IMI certificate.
Over 70 technicians have already participated in the course, with a further 112 technicians attending by the end of the year.
