Get Yourself Seen by the Roadside
Workwear manufacturer, Dickies, has launched a new range of high visibility clothing designed specifically for the vehicle rescue and recovery industry. In distinctive high visibility orange and navy all the garments feature regulation 5cm reflective strips and are fitted with a number features intended to assist those working in this tough occupation. For example the Recovery Poly/Cotton Trousers are fitted with multi-entry cargo pockets complete with a pocket for a mobile phone and radio. Kneepad pouches that will take flexible cushioned kneepads are also fitted to relieve the discomfort of working in a kneeling position on hard road surfaces. Combining regulation safety and detailed construction, this range of high visibility garments offers comfort, durability and protection when working at roadside.
There are three jackets all complying with EN471 Class 3, the standard for the Primary Route Network (PRN) and all other roads with a speed limit of 40mph and above. The three-quarter length, waterproof Recovery Safety Jacket not only keeps the wearer visible to traffic but it also offers foul weather protection to EN343 Class1. A concealed hood in the collar, numerous pockets – including one for the indispensable mobile phone – concealed knitted cuffs and a velcro fastening storm flap over the heavy weight plastic zip combine to keep the wearer warm and dry during the bleak winter months. Many of these features can also be found in the Recovery Safety Bomber Jacket.
The Recovery Poly/cotton Safety Jacket can be adapted to suit the prevailing weather conditions, as the quilted lining can be removed when the weather gets warmer. In addition to the two studded size adjusters on the hem there are numerous pockets, many with velcro fastening.
Completing the new range is a pair of waterproof Safety Trousers and a zip-up Safety Waistcoat. The Safety Trousers have an elasticated waist, two side access pockets and once again the seams are stitched and tape welded. The Recovery Safety Waistcoat is manufactured from Polyester Tricot and has a zip front and an external mobile phone pocket. Furthermore, the Safety Waistcoat and all three jackets can have a blue panel with the word ‘Recovery’ in white lettering applied to the back.
