Bridgestone Winners Enjoy Italian Grand Prix
Ten lucky motorists are coming back down to earth after enjoying a dream trip to the Italian Grand Prix in Monza courtesy of Bridgestone UK. Eight of the winners who travelled to the Autodromo Nationale di Monza for the 9 September spectacle were runners-up in a national prize draw run in association with Ford and Rapid Fit. Four pairs of tickets were up for grabs after motorists completed an entry form at participating national outlets following a free tyre check.
The final pair of tickets was allocated through a similar promotion in nationwide Mazda dealerships All the winners were treated to a four night stay at a luxury hotel on Lake Como, where they were able to soak up stunning scenery before watching the race unfold from prime grandstand seats at the Monza circuit.
“It was a brilliant weekend and the atmosphere at the track was incredible,” said Paul Gauci, from Dartford, Kent, who won a trip in the Mazda promotion. “It’s the first Grand Prix I’ve ever been to, and to gain that experience in the Ferrari heartland was fantastic. Everywhere you looked there was a sea of red, and it was fitting that Michael Schumacher won the race for Ferrari and Bridgestone.
Michael Schumacher’s victory at Monza moved him to within two points of World Championship leader Fernando Alonso after the Renault driver was forced to retire. The German is bidding for an eighth and final drivers’ title after announcing that he will leave Formula One at the end of the season.
Andy Lane, consumer marketing manager for Bridgestone UK, commented: “Our objective through the Ford/Rapid Fit and Mazda promotions was to draw on our Formula One heritage to communicate to consumers that Bridgestone is a leading manufacturer committed to pioneering new technology and promoting road safety. Michael (Schumacher) did us proud in the race, showing exactly what we’re about in terms of setting the standard to follow.”
