Bandag BZY2 All-Round Tread Product
Bandag has launched a new tread product for fleets that operate on a wide variety of surfaces. According to Bandag, the new BZY2 achieves high mileage and reliability on very soft ground, sharp and abrasive stones, as well as everything in between. As a result the new tread is positioned as “a major competitor to existing on/off-road tyre products.”
The BZY2 boasts an advanced groove concept. The space between the ribs is wide enough to drain liquids even on spongy ground, resulting in excellent water drainage and grip, says the company. Furthermore, the grooves have a depth of 18 mm, which leaves room for quite some mileage. The tread grooves have also been cleverly designed to expel any embedded object. This feature greatly improves the BZY2’s resistance to penetration.
“The aggressive design of the new Bandag BZY2 does a great job on all axles of trucks in mixed on/off service. Although it was originally designed for all wheel positions, this tread has also proved itself a worthy alternative on drive axles when traction requirements remain moderate,” Bandag representatives told Tyres & Accessories.
Despite its aggressive looks, the BZY2 tread is said to generate low noise levels on the road. And according to Bandag, the new BZY2 fits almost any on/off-road casing. The tread comes in widths ranging from 190 to 270 mm. The wider sizes feature five-rib versions of the tread pattern. Sizes 260 and 270 have been specially created to fit the new latest models of wide casings.
