Pirelli and Unions to Discuss Strike Action
Representatives from Pirelli Tyres UK and unions representing workers at the company’s Burton and Carlisle production plants are to meet. The talks, scheduled for later this week, are seen as an attempt to avoid the planned strike action, which is due to take place on 25 August.
Workers have also planned a continuous overtime ban from the same date. One union spokesperson told Tyres & Accessories they have not ruled out further strike action: “We have a mandate for industrial action that allows us to take further action if the membership want to, however the current situation is that we have action planned for 25 August and no other dates announced as yet.”
Pirelli Tyre representatives continue to refuse comment on the situation.
