Pirelli and Ferrari in 20,000 Mile Journey
Following last year’s 15,000-mile tour of China, Pirelli and Ferrari are to embark on a new venture; the “Panamerican 20,000”. Two Ferrari 599 GTB Fioranos will leave Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on August 24 and, hopefully, will arrive in New York City in mid-November.
The Ferrari coupés will be driven by 50 journalists from all over the world and they will alternate at the wheel along the 20,000 miles; three months rediscovering the Americas through 16 countries from south to north, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.
Pirelli will supply three types of tyres suited to all weather conditions: the new generation P Zero for road use, the Winter 240 Sottozero for snow-covered surfaces and tyres with special tread compounds for loose sections of the route. The sizes to be used are 245/40 R19 front and 305/35 R20 rear.
Pirelli will support Ferrari with a completely new tyre for the Panamerican. The product, still under development, will become the top of the P Zero collection, the family of ultra-high performance tyres from Pirelli. This latest generation P Zero, which will be launched in 2007, will feature a new structure and materials.
