Over a Billion Tune in to Maxxis British MX Championship
With a TV audience estimated at over a billion people, the Maxxis British Motocross Championship is attracting a huge following around the world, according to the company. The series is currently seen in almost 500 million homes throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas, according to a report from Greenlight Television, which signed a TV deal with the Auto Cycle Union in February.
Initially coverage was on the Sky Sports channels, but now Fox Sports Australia, ESPN and Star Sports are among the TV companies screening the Championship in their primetime motorsports programmes. It is understood this is the first time the British series has been broadcast in Australia.
The Maxxis British Motocross Championship consists of eight action-packed rounds held between March and September at venues throughout the UK. The final three rounds take place at Wakes Colne, Halstead, Essex (August 13) and Hawkstone Park, Shrewsbury (September 10).
Maxxis has been the title sponsor of the British Motocross Championship since 2002. Further information on the series is available at: www.mxgb.co.uk.
