Motorcyclist Magazine selects Dunlop Qualifier as Best New Product
Motorcyclist, the US-based magazine for motorbike enthusiasts, has announced that the Dunlop Qualifier, Dunlop’s latest motorcycle tyre designed specifically for supersport and hypersport motorcycles, has been named the Best New Product of 2006.
“When we first sampled Dunlop’s excellent new Qualifier sport radials late last year, we figured we might have our Best New Product nailed down early,” said Mitch Boehm, Motorcyclist editor. “But then we rode several other new high-performance street tyres–tyres that, like the Dunlops, successfully blend the grip and feedback of DOT-race skins (which are far from ideal for street riding or track days) with the streetability and wear characteristics of conventional high-performance street tyres…But we kept coming back to the Qualifiers, which to us offer slightly better all-around performance.”
Jose` D’Alessandro, director Motorcycle Tyres for Dunlop Europe, Middle East and Africa said: “This important US award is a great reward for our international development teams in the US, Europe and Japan. Our development goal for the Qualifier was to preserve as much race tyre performance as possible while engineering the new tyre to meet the stability, durability and wet-weather performance levels required for the current and next generation of exciting bikes. Our engineers brought to bear all of Dunlop’s latest tyre innovation, including new rubber compounds, new constructions, new tread patterns and new profiles, using the latest development technology.”
