Dunlop Sport Maxx Passes Thruxton Test
The test-driving was carried out on the Hyundai by Radical Enduro racer Roger Green and Dunlop Race Academy winner Simon Shaw, with Dunlop’s James Bailey testing the Vauxhall. Bailey reported: “Thruxton is the toughest circuit in the UK on tyres. The long, fast corners transmit high loads through suspension and tyres, and the abrasive surface is a test of tyre compound. The Dunlop SP Sport Maxx was designed as a high performance road tyre, but in this most demanding of tests it performed superbly with consistent times and plenty of feedback in a simulated race distance at Thruxton.”
“We feel that the ethos of the BARC/Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup should be for cars as close to road specification as possible and we are delighted that we have been able to prove the Sport Maxx is the right tyre for this demanding challenge,” added Bailey. Top BTCC team Triple Eight Race Engineering added their support to the test, with the prototype 240bhp Astra VXR Sprint car making its Great and British track debut. This car is being developed for sale to customers for the inaugural 2007 series.
