An All-Italian Success in Scotland
Together with the Scottish retreader Alba Tyres, Marangoni Tread has shown that it is possible to put retreaded tyres through harsh conditions. This is demonstrated by the fact that the Malcolm Group, the biggest fleet of items of heavy plant in the UK, has been using the Ringtread technology for 24 years and is more than satisfied with the performance of the Italian retreaded tyres.
Malcolm Construction Services, a company belonging to the Malcolm Group, can be considered one of the main suppliers of civil engineering and excavation services in central Scotland. From its beginnings as a family-run business in the 1940s, today the Malcolm Group is a leader in the supply of this type of services, employing 1200 staff and operating a large vehicle fleet – 1000 semitrailers, 800 tractors and 350 items of heavy plant.
Grip and extreme resistance to impacts and puncturing are vital characteristics for the tyres used by Malcolm, given the conditions in which their vehicles operate. The tyres fitted on these vehicles which operate in quarries and construction sites, often at full load, demonstrate that they can withstand even very aggressive road surfaces where there is a high risk of bursting, abrasion and impact.
The pattern their dealer proposed is the Waste Haul, a special pattern for drive axles with very deep tread blocks and open shoulder areas to ensure optimal evacuation of mud, snow and stones.
According to Marangoni the Ringtread system guarantees: “Total dependability, reduced tread wear on the most abrasive surfaces, improved road holding even in the worst conditions and smoother running on the asphalt for reduced fuel consumption. The secret lies in the exclusive retreading system which uses pre-cured treads produced in a circular form and without joints like new tyres, combined with a unique retreading technology.”
