Leading UK Independents Win with Truck Tyre Inspections
Every month InfoRoute Truck Tyre Manager (TTM) processes tyre inspection details for over 8,000 trucks and trailers across the UK. Glyn Cainey, truck tyre director at Dexel Tyre Company, says: “TTM helps staff with no specialist computer knowledge improve service, increase fitter productivity and win more business”. Dexel, one of the larger UK independent tyre companies with nearly 40 truck tyre service vehicles, has used TTM for over two years. A team of three inspectors use TTM to find and organise work, ensuring that fleets are economically and safely managed.
Downloading details of vehicles that need inspection from the Internet via mobile phone saves tyre inspectors’ travelling time. The hand held Inspector Unit works “offline” so inspectors are free to capture tyre details wherever they need. Tyre conditions, depths and faults transmit as soon as inspections are completed via InfoRoute Internet servers ensuring 24/7 operation. Action reports, detailing work required generate automatically. They print in the service manager’s office, can be viewed on the Web by any authorised individual, or be forwarded by email or fax.
Dave Haines of Commercial Tyre Services commented: “TTM is the quickest and simplest way to inspect truck tyres. Tyre inspectors can enter ‘visual check’ details in less than a minute per truck and ‘full audit’ inspections in just a couple of minutes.” Based near Kidderminster and Wednesfield, Commercial Tyre Services have grown in just two years from an initial two to nine breakdown vans. Haines, who has equipped five fitters for TTM tyre inspections added: “Because the hand held Inspector Unit is mobile phone based with simple single key operation no special training is necessary.”
