JK Industries MD Receives Doctorate

Mr Raghupati Singhania, vice chairman and managing director of JK Industries Limited has received an honorary doctorate in science at the seventeenth convocation of Mohanlal Sukhadia University at Udaipur by Her Excellency, Smt. Pratibha Patil, Governor of Rajasthan. The degree was conferred in recognition of Mr Singhania’s contributions towards encouraging education, training and research activities in Rubber and Allied industries in India.

Commenting on the news Mr. Raghupati Singhania said: “It is indeed an honour for me and I owe this recognition to the entire team of JK Tyre, which is committed to achieve and benchmark technological excellence in India.”

It was Mr. Raghupati Singhania, along with his brother Harishankar Singhania, who spearheaded the foundation of JK Tyre, part of JK Group. It was his vision and pioneering spirit that led to the setting up of India’s first radial tyre manufacturing plant in 1976. Besides being a pioneer in radial technology revolution in the country, JK Tyre has been able to maintain its unbeaten supremacy in the manufacture of All Steel Radial Tyres over the past two decades.

In addition to being the VC and MD of JK Industries Ltd Raghupati Singhania is also chairman of Fenner (India) Limited – the leading manufacturer of V-Belts, Oil Seals & other industrial rubber products in India; president of HASETRI, director of Lakshmi Cement & JK Agri-Genetics Ltd and director of various other companies.
