Ram-Rod Launches Trakta Agri-Bead Braker
Ram-Rod Manufacturing Ltd has launched its new ‘Trakta’ bead breaker, designed for agricultural, earthmover and small plant applications, it is Ram-rod’s fourth product, all of which answer specific problems associated with tyre and wheel handling. At the same time the company also announced it is looking for companies to distribute its products across Europe.
On site tyre repairs for tractors and small plant is often carried out on undulating and rough ground. Removing a large tyre and wheel assembly, especially when wet and muddy, is a dangerous job, so the preferred method is to carry out the repair without removing the wheel. The first step in the process is breaking the bead(s).
There are many bead breakers on the market that will do this job but almost without exception they require the fitter to get behind the wheel in order to locate the bead breaker on the rim. In most cases this is difficult due to lack of space resulting in the fitter lying down under the vehicle i.e. JCB rears – a dangerous situation as well as unpleasant in all but the best of weather conditions.
The ‘Trakta’ simply slides under the tyre and wheel assembly without the need for the fitter to get under the vehicle, the front bead is broken by the combination of the integral 10 tonne power pack and lever. On the back bead the ‘Trakta’ is self-locating between the tyre and the rim, the action of the same 10 tonne power pack releasing the bead.
The ‘Trakta’ is suitable for rim diameters between 20 and 38 inches and for maximum tyre width of 20 inches. It weighs in at 39 kilograms (about the same weight as a mid range trolley jack) and comes complete with a full set of ancillary tools.
Phil Sanders, Ram-rod’s CEO commented: “Like the rest of our product portfolio the ‘Trakta’ has been developed with the emphasis firmly on operator safety and ease of use and it will be distributed in the UK through our exclusive wholesalers Rema Tip Top UK Ltd.”
