Dunlop OE on Three Mercedes-Benz Sports Models

DaimlerChrysler AG has specified Dunlop performance tyres for three all-new 2007 Mercedes-Benz luxury automobiles. Dunlop SP Sport 5000M 265/60R18 and optional SP Sport Maxx 275/55R19 ultra-performance tyres are specially designed for the Mercedes-Benz GL450, the car model’s first sport-utility vehicle. The 4.6-litre, 32-valve V-8-powered SUV generates 335 horsepower.

Nineteen-inch versions of the Dunlop SP Sport 01 high-performance all-season tyre are specified on the Mercedes-Benz S-class Sport upgrade. The tyres, specially engineered for the S550 and S600 sedans, come in 255/40R19 (front) and 275/40R19 (rear) sizes.
The S550 luxury sedan delivers 382 horsepower, while the S600 5.5-litre 36-valve biturbo sedan provides 510 horsepower, according to Mercedes-Benz. The tyres also are optional on several S-class models, including the S320 CDI and S350.

Silvana Valencic, segment marketing manager for Dunlop Tires in North America, said, “These tyres are specially tuned for the demanding standards of Mercedes.”

High-end original-equipment fitments also are key to the brand’s replacement tyre business. Valencic said luxury brands traditionally score highest in customer satisfaction, translating into higher loyalty rates and more business for our replacement customers.
“It also helps that our best tyre models are specified on new luxury performance cars. Popular tyres – like the SP Sport 5000, SP Sport 01 and award-winning SP Sport Maxx – are more likely to be requested by satisfied motorists when they are ready for replacement tyres,” she said.
