Goodyear Dunlop Names New UK General Manager
Goodyear Dunlop Europe has named Mark Brickhill as general manager of its UK operation, based in TyreFort, Birmingham. Brickhill will report to Arthur de Bok, President of Goodyear Dunlop Europe with the appointment taking effect on 1 June. Brickhill replaces Dick Johnson who is retiring after 41 years’ service, the past two as UK general manager.
Announcing the appointment, de Bok said: “Mark brings a wide range of UK and continental European business experience to the job. His background in fast moving consumer goods will ensure that the UK organisation is even more customer focused. He has a track record of being successful in highly competitive markets, and of developing and building talented and highly motivated organisations.”
Brickhill joins the company after a 17-year career with Procter & Gamble. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in politics from the University of Nottingham in 1989. After an initial period in the UK he moved to Germany where he held several brand management positions. In 1998 he returned to the UK as a marketing director and multi-functional business team leader. In 2003 he transferred to Geneva, Switzerland, eventually being appointed managing director for the company’s fabric care business for the UK, Ireland and Nordics.
Paying tribute to Johnson, de Bok said: “Dick has had a very successful career with Goodyear. He’s had many senior positions in Latin America, the USA and Eastern Europe, both as a finance director and as a managing director. Since moving to the UK in 2004 he has made a major contribution to the company’s turnaround. We wish him a long, enjoyable and well earned retirement.”
