Nick Manning to Assume Buying Responsibility at Group Tyre
Group Tyre (UK) Ltd has announced the appointment of Nick Manning as director of purchasing. Joining Group Tyre after a substantial career within the Continental Tyre Group Limited, he assumes the full buying responsibility from Larry Cross, whose role as Coordinating Director of Group Tyre continues.
Welcoming Nick Manning’s appointment Larry Cross, said, “Nick’s huge depth of experience of the industry will be a huge asset to Group Tyre. His substantial business development and brand strategy expertise, together with his unique insight into every aspect of the UK tyre market is an invaluable resource. This can only further strengthen the position of Group Tyre as the UK’s leading independent wholesaler and hugely benefit both our members and their customers.”
Nick Manning’s 12-year career at Continental started in a sales management role, where he was responsible for business totalling £13 million and within three years progressed to product management. For the past five years, he operated as a pricing manager, his role including tracking prices, forecasting and representing the UK at European pricing meetings.
Commenting on his new role Nick said, “Group Tyre’s position in the UK marketplace is very much as a major player. Through my time with Continental I have had a great deal of contact with representatives from the company and have always been impressed with their professionalism and market knowledge. The recent developments at Group Tyre, including the acquisition of the Marangoni brand, signal its intent to provide its customer base with an unrivalled service. I now look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to further providing full support for our customers.”
Concluded Larry Cross: “This major appointment completes the new Group Tyre management structure, with additional Head Office support coming through Karl Naylor, (Director of Commercial Operations) and John Dunleavy (Financial Controller). It reflects our total commitment to the independent sector as we continue to develop Group Tyre’s strength and competitiveness.”
