Inaugural Cooper-A1 Grand Prix Season “A Success”
The inaugural season of the Cooper-A1 Grand Prix began in Great Britain in September last year and ended on a positive note in China in early April. A1 Team France was the overall winner of the first World Cup of Motorsports with 172 points. A1 Team Switzerland took second with 121 points and A1 Team Great Britain finished third with 97 points. 22 teams competed on 370/660R13 Cooper-A1 tyres fitted to 16-inch wide racing rims.
Designed to run at very high temperatures, the Cooper-A1 tyre’s
distinctive blend of compounds creates a soft and tacky tyre to provide an incredible level of grip. Cooper Tire has also designed a grooved wet weather tyre to handle even the most severe weather conditions but with a construction that provides enough resilience to endure a full race distance.
“We are pleased with the initial success, and passionate support, of the A1 Grand Prix in its first season,” said Thomas A. Dattilo, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company. “Additionally, we’re looking forward to expanding upon that success next year in a manner that is beneficial to the series, its supporters and Cooper Tire.”
The first race of next season is scheduled for October 1 at the Circuit Park in Zandvoort, Netherlands.
