Cooper Signs Funkmaster Flex to Endorsement Deal
(Akron/Tire Review) Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has signed hip-hop star Funkmaster Flex to a year-long endorsement contract. Flex will appear in a new print advertisement for the Cooper Zeon XST tyre targeting the urban sport truck market, and will make appearances to support the Cooper brand.
Flex, dubbed the “evangelist” of hip hop’s car culture, created the successful Funkmaster Flex Custom Car & Bike Show, now in its fifth year. He is also a celebrity DJ on Hot 97 FM in New York City and the host of two TV shows, Spike TV’s “Ride with Funkmaster Flex” and ESPN 2’s “All Muscle with Funkmaster Flex.”
“As Cooper continues to evolve as a company and increase our high performance product offerings, we want to reach buyers in meaningful and high-profile ways. Flex has immense appeal in addition to automotive expertise, passion and excitement for finely tuned and customized vehicles. We’re delighted he’s helping to promote our brand to a new generation of custom car fans who are interested in power, performance and style,” said Pat Brown, vice president of global branding and communications.
“It’s a pleasure to work with Cooper. They really understand the wants and needs of custom car enthusiasts,” Flex said. “I am psyched to be working with such a terrific group of people to help them bring their high-end performance products to the custom car audience in new ways this year. I see where Cooper is going, and I am ready to help them get there.”
