Beru to Sponsor FIA World Touring Car Championship
For Beru AG, innovative product development and commitment to motor sport have always gone hand in hand. And from April 2006 onwards the Ludwigsburg-based automotive equipment supplier will also be sponsoring the FIA World Touring Car Championship. The company, a specialist in ignition technology, diesel cold-start technology, electronics and sensor technology, is to become involved in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (FIA WTCC).
On April 30 2006 Beru will be the main sponsor of the FIA WTCC races in Magny-Cours, France, for the first time. The company is also appearing in trailers on the Eurosport TV channel and is sponsoring the cockpit cameras in the WTCC cars. In 2007, in addition to the races in France, Beru AG will be the title sponsor for the WTCC races in Germany.
The world championship races are shown by a number of TV channels, including Eurosport, TF1 (France) and the German channel ZDF. A total of seven car manufacturers will be represented on the starting grid: Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Peugeot and Seat.
At racing and rally circuits worldwide, Beru products such as spark and glow plugs, high-performance cable harnesses and plug connections, sensors and electronic measuring systems have to meet extreme demands. Beru numbers almost every Formula 1 team among its partners and also serves customers from all major motor racing series. The English subsidiary Beru F1 Systems recently received the MIA Business Excellence Award for Technology and Innovation from the British Motorsport Industry Association (MIA). The award was for DigiTyre, the new tyre pressure monitoring system from Beru F1 Systems.
