Beru Receives Ford Q1 Award
The Beru spark plug plant in Chazelles-sur-Lyon, France, has received the Ford Q1 Award in the areas of quality, logistics and environmental protection. The coveted quality award is a recognised standard in the international automotive and component supply industry. It acknowledges the excellent achievements by the French Beru site in areas such as customer focus and compliance with all customer specifications, standards and statutory requirements.
The Award is the culmination of a wide-ranging certification process at Beru TDA. Among other things, the Ford standard requires suppliers to comply with the quality standard ISO TS 16949. In October 2005 Chazelles-sur-Lyon also passed a complete environmental certification to ISO 14001, requiring numerous ecological modernization measures and intensive employee training.
As part of the certification requirements to Ford Q1 2002, Beru TDA also had to satisfy the Global Materials Management Operations Guidelines – Logistics Evaluation (GLOBAL MMOG/LE). These guidelines, established by European and American automotive companies, are designed to make the areas of electronic data exchange and logistics processes even more transparent. One hundred percent delivery reliability and a zero defect rate in one million parts were also a requirement of the Ford Q1 Award.
