Avon Tyres British GT Championship Begins
“A dream collection of exotica” is one description of the line-up of cars that will be racing at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend, as part of the Brookson DWF F3/GT Festival. Supercars from 12 manufacturers, including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lotus and Porsche will contest the first round of the prestigious Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The front running cars in the championship are capable of reaching 60 mph in 3 seconds and have the potential to reach almost 200 mph!
The challenging and spectacular Oulton Park circuit will test the
drivers and cars to their limits ensuring the racing matches up to the machinery.
Oulton Park will be the first race since Avon Tyres became the
title sponsor and tyre supplier for the British GT. Avon Tyres
Motorsport Director, Julian Baldwin commented:
“It will be fantastic to see the first race on our specially developed
GT tyre finally take place after all the long hours of testing, research
and development that has taken place. We are delighted to be sponsoring such an exciting and prestigious series and I am looking forward to watching a great race at Oulton Park.”
A total of seven series will be taking to the circuit over the course of
the Brookson DWF F3/GT Festival including the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series, UK Formula Ford, Autosport Caterham Superlight Challenge and the Volkswagen Racing Cup. Racing takes place on Saturday 15 April and Monday 17 April.
The second round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship will take place on the weekend of the 20/21 May at Donington Park Circuit.
