Varta Lands OE Contracts
A high proportion of the new cars launched at the recent Geneva Motor Show and set to reach the UK market shortly feature Varta calcium-silver and AGM batteries as original equipment. Varta claims a share of more than half the European OE market.
Among the new cars with Varta as OE are two high-performance coupes from two of the UK’s most famous marques; the Jaguar XK8 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Varta has also risen to the challenge of successfully managing the dramatically increased electrical demands for today’s high-tech vehicles, as shown in the VW EOS Cabrio VR6. The car’s steel folding roof, engine starting and sophisticated electronics are powered by two 6 volt batteries from Varta’s sister brand, Optima. These compact, SpiralCell batteries are mounted beneath the steel roof cover on either side of the car for perfect weight distribution and are connected via a cable to provide 12 volt 50 amp/hour performance.
The new Audi Q7 is fitted as OE with either a 92Ah Varta AGM battery or a 95 Ah or 110 Ah Varta calcium-silver starter battery, depending on the vehicle’s electrical demands.
Other OE contracts for newly-launched models include the Ford Focus Cabrio, petrol-engined Vauxhall Astra Twin Top and new Volvo Cabrio, Mercedes Benz SL facelift and S Class.
