TRIB to Challenge Truck Drivers at Mid-America Show
(Akron/Tire Review) TRIB will hold its “Pump ‘Em, Don’t Thump ‘Em” contest at its booth at the upcoming Mid-America Trucking Show, set for next week in Louisville, Kentucky. The Mid-America Trucking Show is the trucking industry’s largest national event, and draws manufacturers, marketers and thousands of drivers each year.
The Pump ‘Em, Don’t Thump ‘Em contest, co-sponsored by ArvinMeritor, will be held Friday, 24 March at 10:30 am in Booth 6973 in the West Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The purpose of the event is to demonstrate that kicking, thumping, banging or hitting a truck tire cannot accurately determine inflation pressure. For the contest, TRIB will have three truck tires mounted on wheels, each inflated to a certain pressure. The challenge is for participating CDL-holding truck drivers to kick, thump, bang, hit or whatever a tire and then report what they believe to be the tire’s inflation pressure.
To win the contest, truckers must come within plus/minus 5 psi of the inflation pressure in a tire, but the grand prize will be awarded to the driver who correctly assesses the pre-set inflation level.
The event will also include a brief discussion of how truck and equipment owners and operators can make the most of their fuel and tire money by paying greater attention to proper tyre maintenance, at the heart of which is air pressure.
