Pirelli Receives Fourth Consecutive Safety Award
In the US, Pirelli has received the top safety award from the Rubber Manufacturers Association for the fourth year in a row, for achieving significant improvements in worker health and safety over the past year. The Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) award was presented to Pirelli at the RMA’s annual meeting.
There are two grades of award, with the top one being “Excellence”. To receive an Excellence award, a plant must achieve an incidence rate of lost workday cases that is 75 per cent better than the average. Over 180 plants from 39 members supplied data to SHIP and Pirelli’s MIRS plant in Rome, Georgia received the Excellence award for the fourth year in a row – the only facility to ever receive the award more than once.
Guy Mannino, President of Pirelli Tire North America, was delighted with the award, saying: “To win it four years in arrow is truly a testament not only to the manner in which Pirelli has designed safety into every aspect of our MIRS plant operations in Rome, but also to the safety consciousness of our workforce. MIRS is the best in class in tyre manufacturing and I am extremely proud to accept this award on behalf of every plant employee.”
