Dunlop Supports Motorsport Engineers of the Future

Dunlop is working with young engineers to bring Formula racing car BMM02 into reality. The team consists of 20 postgraduate Automotive and Motorsport engineers from Brunel University West London, with the common goal of designing and manufacturing a formula-style racing car for the Formula Student Competition 2006.

The Formula Student Competition was founded in 1999 and has since seen its popularity increase by more that 400 per cent. Each year more Universities from around the world sign up for this competition. After, a battle between strong Latin-American and French accents, in a very friendly and co-operative environment, Jean-Felix Bazelin, general manager of Dunlop Motorsport Europe placed a vote of confidence in the team selection.

“Enthusiasm and innovation are the main drivers of this new team, with engineers and designers from diverse cultural and engineering backgrounds,” explains Rafael Stefanelli, Head of the Suspension Group of BMM. “The BMM02 has been designed to achieve several developments in the suspension, weight optimisation, electronics, aerodynamics and powertrain features, promising to be a highly competitive race car.”
