Tech 3 Yamaha MotoGP Team Picks Dunlop
Dunlop has announced that the Tech 3 Yamaha team will compete in the 2006 MotoGP World Championship on Dunlop tyres.
Riders will be Spaniard Carlos Checa, the most experienced rider on the MotoGP grid with ten years of top level experience of riding for different factory teams and on different tyre brands and the young British rider James Ellison. Both will be on board the latest official 2006 factory Yamaha YZR- M1 machines run by the very experienced Tech 3 team.
Tech 3, the French based team run by Herve Poncharal is no stranger to Dunlop – a long association in 250cc culminating with the Tech 3 Chesterfield Yamahas finishing 1st (Olivier Jacque) and 2nd (Shinya Nakano) in the 250cc World Championship of 2000.
The 2006 Tech 3 Yamaha bikes, riders and team personnel will appear in their final livery at the official launch test for the 2006 MotoGP season at Barcelona on 3-5 March. The team is now moving to Qatar for a further 3-day test starting Feb 5th where Carlos Checa will get his first taste of the new Yamaha M1/ Dunlop package. A further three day test at Sepang brings the teams to Europe for six more days of testing at Barcelona and Jerez before the first GP of the 17 round Championship – the Spanish GP at Jerez on 26 March.
