CTNA Said to be Considering HQ Move
(Akron/Tire Review) Continental Tire North America (CTNA) is considering moving its US headquarters from Charlotte, North Carolina, to another part of the city, possibly even to nearby South Carolina, according to reports this weekend.
A company spokesman told the Charlotte Observer that CTNA was in the “preliminary stages” of considering such a move, but that “relocating our headquarters is really not on our radar screen right now.” Any move decision, though, would likely come after CTNA completes its master contract talks with the United Steelworkers, including talks to cut costs at its Charlotte plant.
CTNA’s headquarters are in a building adjacent to the Charlotte plant. CTNA is looking for a $32 million per year cut is costs at the plant, and plans to reduce plant employment by some 50 per cent by mid-2006.
Other news reports say that CTNA is considering a deal to move its approximately 300-person headquarters staff to a new office building to be constructed in Lancaster County, South Carolina.
