Mill Tyres Awarded Pirelli Performance Centre Status
Pirelli Tyres has announced that Mill Tyres, Boston has been awarded Pirelli Performance Centre status. Mill Tyres becomes the 50th centre to achieve this prestigious award since the introduction of the PPC concept in the late 1990s.
Mill Tyres, a family run business, operates out of a single depot in Boston, Lincolnshire. John Sands and his two sons Edward and John have been in business for 15 years and pride themselves on offering a first class service from the moment the consumer walks through the front door into the modern, spacious and well equipped reception area, to the tyres being fitted with the latest equipment and to the highest technical standards.
Mill Tyres already counts a large number of performance car drivers as customers, but John Sands (senior) believes that the recognition gained from becoming a PPC member will only improve the flow of high performance traffic. “We are delighted that Pirelli has recognised Mill Tyres by awarding us with PPC Silver status,” said Mr Sands, adding: “Everybody in the trade knows that the PPC audit is notoriously difficult to pass and it’s a credit to everybody here that we have managed it.”
Since the idea of PPC was made reality, it has gone from strength to strength although the key objectives have remained the same. According to Wayne Nickless, marketing director of Pirelli Tyres: “The key objective was to provide a network of dealers with high technical levels and commitment to service allowing Pirelli to direct drivers of High Performance cars with confidence.”
Each PPC centre undertakes a continuous programme of quality and technical evaluation, achieved through regular audits, which cover a wide spectrum of areas. These include working practices, standard and maintenance of equipment, housekeeping and procedures which pertain to tyre/wheel removal and replacement.
Pirelli believes that the Pirelli Performance Club has been the flag bearer for the tyre trade in raising standards and ensuring that drivers of high performance vehicles can visit any PPC centre with confidence. Furthermore the Italian manufacturer sees its scheme as a pioneering project that has been replicated by other leading manufacturers interested in continuously raising standards.
