Beru F1 Systems Wins Motorsport Industry Innovation Award
Diss-based Beru F1 Systems has won an Motor Industry Association (MIA) innovation award for its DigiTyre tyre pressure monitoring system. The achievement was formally recognised at the annual Motorsport Industry Association Awards held during the Autosport International exhibition at the NEC. Beru’s MIA Business Excellence Award for Technology and Innovation was one of only seven awards presented. The company’s latest tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is currently used in the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the world’s fastest road car.
“We have worked very hard to build our reputation as a technical specialist and innovator in our field,” says John Bailey, managing director of BERU F1 Systems. “Our mission everyday is to drive exciting technology forward and create original products but it is an honour to be recognised formally by the motorsport industry in this way. It rewards the hard work, commitment and talent of our dedicated team. I am very proud.”
According to the company, flexibility, reliability and ease of use are core strengths of the winning product, which is based on Beru technology. High-level technical support and software allows for field-tuning capabilities. DigiTyre is capable of operating at temperatures of over 100’C and forces up to 2900G, succeeding where standard TPMS designs fail. But is doesn’t end with F1. Building on its successes with DigiTyre in motorsport and high-end production car applications, Beru F1 systems says it is continuing to develop the product for new users and novel applications.
The company has also produced a variation designed for the unique challenge of US stock car racing. This incorporates what is reportedly the first dual tyre pressure monitoring system. DigiTyre DT, as it will be known, is planned for release in 2006, in time for the NASCAR racing series.
At a more accessible level, customer demand has triggered the design of a new low cost version of the system, which was launched at Autosport International. Beru says its DigiTyre Lite system “brings the power, performance and safety of BERU F1 Systems’ award winning TPMS technology to a far broader group of motorsport enthusiasts world-wide.”
