Goodyear Aims to Gain Market Share In Finland
Goodyear is aiming to increase its market share in Finland by achieving a 10 per cent sales growth target. According to Deutsche Bank analysts the manufacturer aims to do this by focusing on distribution and becoming the second or third strongest player in the country (behind Michelin and Continental), compared with its current number four position.
However the analysts believe this is unlikely to alter Nokian’s market position. Before that could happen the analysts say Goodyear would have to build a better position with independent dealers, as the main chains (Vianor and Euromaster) are controlled by Nokian and Michelin.
Furthermore the manufacturer would have to move its inventory from Sweden to Estonia, in order to enable quicker deliveries to Finland, the analysts suggest.
Despite the Deutsche Bank representatives doubts of there being a Goodyear revolution in Finland, they said they have “no fear” for the company’s business here. “However Continental could be under increased pressure for the next couple of years in Finland,” the analysts concluded.
