Bridgestone to Open West Bohemia Distribution Centre in 2006
Bridgestone is planning to open a European distribution centre in the Czech Republic in July 2006, Gert Meylemans, senior manager corporate PR at Bridgestone Europe NV/SA told Czech Business Weekly.
Bridgestone Europe has reportedly signed a contract with warehouse developer CTP Invest to lease a 54,000 square metre industrial plot space for its European distribution centre. The distribution centre will be located in the CTPark Bor, which is located on the D5 motorway near the German border in West Bohemia. According to the Czech Business Weekly report, the centre will employ 85 people, have room for 750,000 tyres and will store passenger car, agricultural, off road, van, truck and bus products.
The report said Bridgestone chose the Czech Republic because of its strategic location for serving nearby markets including Germany and Slovenia, as well as the Czech Republic. “Afterwards, it might also serve as a back up for other countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Poland and others.” Another reason for Bridgestone choosing the Czech Republic is the country’s “investment climate,” and the CTPPark Bor’s “excellent road infrastructure,” Gert Meylemans told the publication. Bridgestone is expected to lease still more space in the future.
