Silverstone Tyres Win On African Soil

Silverstone Competition Tyres (distributed by Regional Export Tyre Services PTY Ltd in South Africa) have got off to a strong start in the African race and rally scene. The manufacturer reports that it is in the “evaluation stage” with Formula Ford and VW Silvercup challenges. And has concluded negotiations with the SA Northern Region Rally Commission to introduce “The Silverstone Rally Challenge 2006” which will run concurrently with the Regional Championship.

Silverstone’s Malaysian factory has produced rally and track racing tyres for South Africa, which in only eight months have achieved a number of successes. Victories include Zambian African Rally Challenge Victory, SA Northern Region Rally Victory. In addition Silverstone Slick tyres have achieved first place in the SA National Oval Track (Tarr) Championship, and are included in Porsche 924 Challenge, Formula GTI, Formula S20, Formula Libra championships.

Formula GTI Cars on Silverstone Slick Tyres will be seen this coming weekend on the Kyalami International racetrack at the Altech F1x2 Grand Prix.
