Modern Tyre Service Donates £1000 to Breast Cancer Research
Last month Northern Ireland’s largest independent tyre retailers held a series of ladies tyre safety clinics at a selection of their depots. The nights coincided with National tyre safety week and were run in conjunction with the All Women Together breast cancer awareness campaign. For each of the 100 ladies that attended, Modern Tyre Service donated £10.
Speaking about the donation Denise McConnell, Cancer Research Northern Ireland Community Fundraiser said: “I would like to thank the management and staff of Modern Tyre Service for donating such an amazing amount for breast cancer research. It is great to see people taking positive action against a disease which affects three women per day in the province – but the good news is, our research has helped thousands of women survive breast cancer. This generous donation will help ensure even more women survive.”
On the nights ladies were shown how to check their tyres for wear as well as how to carry out other safety checks including oil, water, antifreeze and lights. The other main topic was how to change your spare wheel, which was demonstrated by a member of staff from Modern Tyres then the ladies had the chance to try it themselves.
Modern Tyre Service sales and marketing manager Stephen Shaw said: “The evenings were a big success and they provided the perfect platform to raise money for a very worthwhile cause and at the same time create an understanding amongst female motorists of the necessary regular safety checks required on their cars.”
