Hi-Q: Better to Be Safe than Sorry
Fast fit network, Hi-Q has recently signed up to be a partner organisation in a new campaign aimed at ensuring drivers aren’t left stranded in the event of a breakdown. The Goodyear ‘Drive Home Safely’ offers drivers practical advice on what to do if stranded, or if being followed. The campaign also aims to create a network of ‘safety zones’ where drivers can go to receive free preventative safety checks on their vehicle.
Other partner organisations in the scheme include the Institute of Advanced Motorists and the Petrol Retailers Association. Hi-Q has committed to the ‘Drive Home Safely’ scheme by offering drivers the opportunity to go along for a free maintenance check. Items such as tyres, lights, exhausts and batteries are the main causes of vehicle breakdown and will form part of the check offered by trained staff. Following each check, a verbal report will be given identifying any potential problem areas.
Hi-Q’s marketing manager, Nikki McCluney believes Drive Home safely is a valuable initiative for drivers who may be left vulnerable if a breakdown leaves them stranded in an unfamiliar place or late at night.
“Hi-Q promotes safety in all aspects of motoring. This new scheme offers drivers peace of mind knowing their cars are in the best possible condition. Being stranded is never a nice experience, but by carrying out some simple preventative measures we believe Hi-Q can help reduce the chances of anyone being left vulnerable.” she commented.
Drive Home Safely is currently being launched in a series of Goodyear road shows taking place across the UK. The main aims of the scheme are:
· To raise general awareness among female drivers aged 17-35 on the personal safety risks they face when driving alone or with their children
· To compile and publicise a series of simple and practical steps to ensure a safer journey
· To join with partners to create a support network of ‘Safety Zones’
“Although incidents involving stranded motorists are rare, Drive Home Safely provides both reassurance and support to anyone who may be in difficulties. Hi-Q is pleased to be supporting such a valuable scheme. After all, it is better to be safe than sorry,” concluded Nikki McCluney.
