Battery Check Kit from Varta
The kit provides independent and franchised workshops with a range of point-of-sale material to encourage motorists to take advantage of a free battery condition check. It consists of a series of posters, leaflets, dealer advertising templates and mirror hangers with the strap line “Why wait for a breakdown?”, reminding drivers that the most common cause of roadside breakdowns is battery failure. In 2003, the AA attended 3.9 million call-outs, with 15 per cent due to battery failure.
Using a printed test sheet (part of the kit), workshops can carry out the free check and provide customers with a comprehensive report on the state of their battery. This gives them the chance to have their battery recharged or replaced if necessary. Should this latter option be chosen, then obviously Varta hopes that the replacement will be one of their calcium-silver technology products, for which they claim a service life 20 per cent longer than that for conventional lead acid batteries
