Top Technician Kicks Off
Entrants who achieve the highest marks in this year’s Top Technician theory test, will be invited to a free training seminar on modern vehicle technology. The seminar will be hosted by newly appointed technical partner, MototeK, helpline provider to many vehicle manufacturers.
Dave Garratt, chairman of judges and chief executive of the GEA, commented: “We wanted to increase the value to entrants for 2006 so regional practical assessments will be part of the Top Technician selection process for the first time. An authentic garage environment will be used for a more ‘hands-on’ challenge, replacing the stage two questionnaire of earlier contests.”
The competition kicks off this month with support from sponsors Bosch, ReMIT.co.uk and Vauxhall Trade Club. The winner will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in May 2006 and will take home the top prize of £2,000 (tax free) and the title of ‘Top Technician 2006’.
