Team MRF Clinch Asia Pacific Rally Championship

Both Jussi and his co-driver Jarrko Kalliolepo, also from Finland, decided to drive aggressively, yet cautiously, in what Valimaki called “one of the toughest rallies of his career”. The rough terrain and the oppressive equatorial heat made conditions difficult for the Finns who are used to driving on the smooth surfaces of Europe in cool climate.

The Indonesian round won by MRF’s Valimaki was the sixth in the FIA APRC. Jussi also won the Australian and the New Caledonia rounds. Toshi Arai, driving a Subaru Impreza, won the New Zealand and the Malaysian rounds, and Katsuhiko Taguchi won in Japan. Two rounds remain to complete the championship – in Thailand and China.
