New Bandag Dealer in Sweden
Mr Amnäs has been well aware of the advantages of tyre retreading for ages: “Precure retreading combines economic benefits and environmental assets. For these reasons alone, we wanted to go into partnership with Bandag. But there was more to our decision: Bandag also offers a fully-fledged fleet support package, with services and programmes that actually drive fleet operating costs down. So
Bandag and Galdax have the same objectives.”
He believes that Bandag probably has the widest range of tyre products for the very special needs of the Nordic countries. For example, take the new winter tyre product BDR-W, which Claes Amnäs says is already highly popular on the Nordic markets.
Fully equipped and trained
Galdax recruited three highly experienced tyre professionals – each with at least 10 years of experience in the business. Tony Johansson and Henrik Lund manage customer relations, while Torbjörn Svensson is responsible for order management and administration.
The company uses only the latest and most advanced Bandag-exclusive retreading equipment to guarantee the highest and most consistent tyre product quality.
On the technical side, the six retreading technicians underwent two months of intensive training, partly on site, coached by Bandag specialists from the Brussels-based European Bandag Headquarters, and partly in a number of other Bandag retreading shops. Regular inspections, audits and follow-up courses ensure that all retreads produced by Galdax meet Bandag’s strict quality requirements.
Galdax plans to produce some 15,000 Bandag retreads a year. An extensive network of tyre outlets and maintenance shops distributes the retreads to the fleets.
“These independent tyre specialists in no way shield us from the harsh realities that the fleets encounter every day, though,” comments Mr Amnäs. “We go with our tyre specialists to visit the fleet customers and make sure that the best possible working relationship is created and maintained. Together, we analyse fleet needs, advise on the best tread designs for specific applications, conduct follow-up tests on trucks, etc. This approach enables fleets to benefit fully from the expertise that Bandag and we can provide together as a team – not to mention getting fast and professional service from their local tyre specialist.”
To cope with increasing production volumes, work is already underway to build a new 2,000 m² warehouse next to the Bandag retreading shop in autumn this year.
