Hi-Q Customer Comes Back for 25 Conseutive Years
Staff at Hi-Q Tyreservices in Truro, were astonished recently to discover that they had carried out more than a quarter of a century’s worth of MOTs, on just one car.
The car, a classic 1939 Rover 12 is owned by Truro man Ronald Bucket. Mr Bucket aged 87, has been taking his car to the Hi-Q Tyreservices store in St Austell Street for the past twenty-five years and each year the car has passed with flying colours.
“I bought the car when I retired to Truro in 1975 and I then spent two years fully restoring it. I first went to Hi-Q for the MOT in 1980 and I have a certificate from them for every year since. The car has now clocked up 80,000 miles, and I think the only trouble I ever had was when a bulb went and it had to be replaced before the certificate was issued.” Mr Bucket commented.
Hi-Q store manager Justin Roberton says that even he was surprised to learn Mr Bucket had been coming to the store for such a long time: “I knew that he was a regular customer as the car is so instantly recognisable, but it was only when he showed me all his old certificates that I realised he had been coming for what amounts to a quarter of a century.
“I think the fact that we have such a long standing and valued customer means we must be doing something right here.”
Hi-Q marketing manager, Nikki McCluney, believes the high level of service offered by Hi-Q is one of the reasons Mr Bucket has been returning to the store for so long: “I think it is an indication of the expertise and service we offer that we have been able to retain Mr Bucket’s custom.
“We now have a fully computerised MOT testing facility at the Truro store, so we are looking forward to providing Mr Bucket and all our customers an even more comprehensive service from now on.”
