The Days of Supply Only are Over
Newark based Tanvic Tyres is planning to make “wholesale” changes to its operation. In order to streamline the business and improve efficiency, from 1 January 2006, Tanvic Tyre Distributors Ltd and We Sell Tyres (Wholesale) Ltd will come together to form The Tanvic Group Ltd.
The major change will occur when the Newark based TS Wholesale re-brands under the We Sell Tyres (wholesale) name before the end of 2005. Tanvic Spares Ltd will remain a separate company.
Tanvic’s tyre and service centres were established more than 37 years ago. The outlets’ primary business is retailing tyres batteries, exhausts and associated vehicle services operating from their seven locations at Newark, Corby, Grantham, Lincoln, Melton Mowbray Loughborough, and Worksop. Over the years the company has developed a reputation for service and reliability throughout the East Midlands.
Some years later Tanvic Spares Ltd was introduced. During 1995 the company established the TS Wholesale arm of the business. This wing was originally based in Grantham, but TS soon outgrew its premises and the company moved the operation along with the head office facility to Newark. Similarly in 1998 the business became part of the Group Tyre UK network. The business reportedly flourished and to further broaden their business base in 2003 they formed a separate company aptly named We Sell Tyres (Wholesale) Ltd based in Norwich. The progress didn’t stop there and soon further WST operations were opened in Corby and Worksop.
Commenting on the re-branding of the TS wholesale name, Tanvic Tyres Wholesale managing director, Alan Jackson, said: “It’s a logical step forward. We already have three successful stand alone operations Norwich, Corby and Worksop trading under the WST banner. The Newark operation, which has a substantial customer base, will make the change before the end of the year, the staff will be the same as will the service, it will give the WST name considerable extra exposure in the East Midlands. I believe the WST brand has a strong, distinct image and carries a simple and succinct message of what we do.
“We operate nearly 40 delivery vehicles from our four locations delivering tyres to East Anglia Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Central and East Midlands and parts of South Yorkshire, our combined company wholesale storage facility is over 75,000 square feet. And our service offer includes multiple, same day deliveries. In fact 80 per cent of our delivery routes are same day. We are in the process of adding much needed additional storage space to some of our locations to cope with this extra demand.”
But what sets the company apart from its competitors? “Our customers know that we are more than just a wholesaler. We offer technical advice and solutions, our customer’s require more than just a next day delivery. Our motor dealership programmes has expanded through pro-active marketing with the Group Tyre network, and we are expected to be able to offer technical and practical support to those programmes. The days of just a supply service, are well and truly over,” said Alan Jackson adding: “The company change to incorporate the Tanvic Group will ensure we have the resource at our disposal to meet our customers’ growing demands.”
