Drive Home Safely Campaign
Goodyear has teamed up with a number of motoring organisations to launch its ‘Drive Home Safely’ initiative. Together the group has arranged a dedicated website and road show to reduce motorists’ fears of coping with difficult driving situations.
Situations such as being followed, breaking down on the motorway alone at night, or having items stolen from their car are those being addressed by the campaign. In London during the first six months of 2005, there were almost 1,000 reported incidents of theft from, or damage to, vehicles according to the Metropolitan Police Service crime statistics.
The manufacturer intends the official website, www.drivehomesafely.co.uk, to act as a one-stop source of information for anyone affected by road security issues.
Motoring organizations, including the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and Retail Motoring Federation (RMIF), and several local police forces have teamed up with the tyre manufacturer to provide a comprehensive source of information for drivers.
Practical advice on what to do in difficult driving situations is included on the site. Goodyear’s interactive Risk Assessment Quiz will also allow visitors to the site to calculate their awareness of the potential risks to personal safety whilst driving.
James Bailey of Goodyear, said: “We constantly strive to anticipate issues and concerns affecting motorists out on the road. The Drive Home Safely campaign has been created to provide reassurance and practical advice that addresses the personal safety issues potentially affecting all drivers.”
The campaign will be taken on the road, with the Drive Home Safely road show touring the UK throughout this summer. The road show will visit six cities across the UK and will feature advice from Goodyear experts and local police forces.
