The Search for Britain’s Most Energetic Boss
Small business employees across the country are being encouraged to nominate their boss as the most energetic in the country. Powergen’s ‘Britain’s Most Energetic Boss 2005’ is looking for bosses with positive energy, whose enthusiasm and commitment to their employees or community makes going to work fun and rewarding, not a chore. The search aims to reward the hard work and dedication of the bosses of the UK’s 3.7 million small businesses.
Employees who nominate their boss at www.energeticboss.co.uk between 4 July and 12 August 2005 could win a case of champagne for themselves, and a well deserved break of a lifetime to New Zealand for their boss.
Last year’s winner was Poole fish & chip shop owner Ken “The Cod” MacKenzie. Ken regularly surprises his staff with days off abroad. He also scours the world looking for new fish for his customers to try, and opens his house each year to raise money for a local children’s charity.
Five finalists will win a luxury European weekend break, with their nominating employee also getting a case of champagne. Finalists in 2004 included hairdressers, greengrocers and the owner of a chain of workwear stores.
Neil Gould, small and medium business manager, Powergen, said: “We want to shine the spotlight of Britain’s unsung small business bosses. All too often, they work incredibly hard to make their business a positive, thriving place to work, but don’t get the recognition they deserve. Our search for Britain’s Most Energetic Boss gives everyone a chance to really celebrate their success.”
