Michelin Launches Inflation Station Safety Programme in South Carolina
(Akron/Tire Review) Michelin North America (MNA) announced the opening of the first Michelin Tire Inflation Station at the Welcome Center on Interstate 26 in Landrum, S.C.
The free inflation station is the first of seven to be installed at high-traffic South Carolina welcome centres over the next two years. The station allows motorists to check tyre pressures and fill tyres as well as learn about tyre safety and proper tyre maintenance.
Each station features a heavy-duty air compressor, instructional materials printed in English and Spanish and a secure area for inflation.
MNA partnered with South Carolina’s DOT (SCDOT) on the safety initiative. “This is a unique programme we are beginning in South Carolina to increase awareness and help improve tyre safety for travellers,” said Kathy Lyles, Michelin’s worldwide director of tyre testing.
