Exide’s New X-tra Power Range
Exide has launched a new range of high-performance batteries, which it says benefit from Exmet technology, a feature designed to boost engine starting power and battery life.
The X-tra EXpanded METal technology means the battery contains grids of lead, calcium and tin alloys which are said to enhance starting power by as much as 30 per cent. In addition Exide says it produces lower water consumption, eliminating the need for topping-up.
There’s also a new secure lid design, which incorporates a series of 6 cell plugs that not only prevent acid leaks but also form part of a venting system for the safe dispersal of gases, as well as a ‘magic eye’ indicator for checking the battery’s state of charge.
The X-tra, supplied with a four-year guarantee, is specifically aimed at diesel and high performance vehicles. It forms part of Exide’s new three-tier battery offer, which is based on the company’s ‘good, better, best’ principle, and includes two other new models, the Excell and Classic.
The Excell, supported by a three-year guarantee, is specially designed for modern cars produced since 1997 and benefits from the latest calcium/calcium technology. It also features Exide’s new secure lid design, state-of-charge indicator and special central venting system.
Completing Exide’s new range is the Classic, a reliable battery boasting good engine starting performance. It is recommended for use in vehicles produced before 1997 and is backed by a two-year guarantee.
“This new battery offer has been specially developed by Exide using its vast experience and expertise to fit the latest market trends and requirements,” commented marketing manager Craig Everett.
The range also features Exide’s new European part numbering system, which will be phased in over the coming months.
