Amerityre Meets Further Testing Standard
Amerityre has announced that its full-size airless passenger car tyre has passed US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 129. In April, Amerityre announced that non-pneumatic tyres for compact and mid-sized vehicles had passed the same standard. The prototype tyres, made from a proprietary polyurethane compound, have been developed for prospective use as temporary/spare passenger car tyres.
“The tyres are now eligible for use as spare tyres on about 90 per cent of all passenger cars produced each year” according to Richard Steinke, Amerityre’s President and CEO. “One of our goals was to have a polyurethane car tyre product ready to commercialise this year,” Mr Steinke added. “We have successfully tested multiple designs of the temporary tyres and we’re currently working with a couple of automobile manufacturers to begin qualifying the tires as original equipment ‘spare’ tyres.”
